Ministries of New Hope Christian Fellowship

Jesus came to earth to serve others – Mark 10:45 – “…the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…”

True Christians will love one another – John 13:35 – “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

Once you come to know Jesus, you will want to share his love with others. At New Hope there are opportunities for everyone to be involved in ministry; in service to others in the church and in the community. Take a look at some of ways you may share your gifts and talents with others.

Youth Ministries

At New Hope we understand that we all live in a dangerous world. Our children and teens face many risks and temptations. We believe that Christians have a responsibility to love and care for children, not only those in our church, but all children. The old saying is true, “it takes a community to raise a child.”

Because we are committed to providing a caring and safe Christian environment for all youth who come, we require background checks for all our adult youth workers.

Nursery and Pre-school

At New Hope, we provide nursery and preschool care for the entire service every Sunday, opening at 10:15 a.m. We require background checks for all our adult youth workers. We have cribs and rocking chairs in our nursery, and many toys and games for our toddlers. In our pre-school we teach a lesson every week about God and his love. For more information, contact Liz Turner.

Children’s Church

We provide classes for all children, in grades Kindergarten through grade six, every Sunday during the sermon time. Christian teachers lead the children through a Bible-based curriculum, and provide time for Christian crafts and other fun activities.

Our teachers demonstrate love and hope for all the children by modeling Jesus’ example, and seeking to help children look to Jesus, as their hope and future. For more information, contact Connie Weber.

Teen Church

Our teens meet during the sermon time on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. Christ-centered teachers lead the teens through Bible-based studies and discussions about real and relevant teen issues today.

For more information contact our Teen Outreach Leader Fred Stevens.

Marriage & Family Ministries

Each year, we host a Christian Marriage Retreat at a nearby hotel, from noon Saturday through noon Sunday. We invite couples of all faiths and backgrounds to attend. Each year we hire a married couple as our guest speakers, who have expertise and experience in presenting marriage retreats and workshops.

We offer classes and private counseling in building and strengthening marriages, parenting, personal and family finance, anger management and grief recovery. For more information, contact Pastor Glen Weber, (626) 376-9273.

Brief Description of Retreat

In the often frantic pace of family life, couples can easily find themselves in a relationship where they are over-committed and under-connected. Creating connections offers couples a time to refresh and renew the vital areas of their marriage. This retreat will introduce partners to a deeper understanding of the relational strengths and needs that contribute to maintaining a strong and secure marital bond. Presentations will help couples find ways of responding to the common patterns in marriage that lead to distance and disappointment. Through this retreat couples find opportunities to affirm the strengths of their relationship and the love they share for each other.

Music and Worship Arts

Music and Worship Arts

“The mission of the Music and Worship Arts Ministry is to enhance and facilitate the worship of the Almighty God by involving as many members in the congregation as possible. And in so doing, providing uplifting, quality music, drama, dance and art for New Hope worship services, the surrounding community, other Christian fellowships, and special seasonal worship events.” For more information contact director Celestine Olive.

Live Spanish Translation – Each Sunday we have live Spanish translation of our entire worship service. When you arrive at church, just pick up a headset from the Audio Console in the back of the Sanctuary. For more information contact our Spanish Translation coordinator, Nickie Vargas.

Tenemos audifonos disponible para traducción simultaneous, atrás en la mesa de audio, en el Santuario.

Bible Studies

Each Sunday morning before church, we provide an interactive Bible study from 9:15-10:00am.  This is usually a study through a book of the Bible, although sometimes we discuss topics that are important to our members.

Each Thursday morning, we offer an interactive Bible Study from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. at the home of Larry Omasta in NE Pasadena. Please contact him for details at (626) 797-2717 or

Each Thursday evening, we offer a Bible Class from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. at New Hope in Classroom #3, where we discuss a selected portion of the Bible interactively, and encourage and equip classmates to share in the teaching and leading.

On the first Sunday of each month, we host a Spanish-speaking Bible Study in a New Hope classroom from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Contact Nickie Vargas for details.

Prayer Meeting

Each Sunday morning after our worship service, we have elders on duty in at the front of the sanctuary from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. to pray for your healing and any other concerns. For more information contact Pastor Glen Weber.

Neighborhood Small Groups

Many of our members enjoy getting together with Christian friends in our neighborhoods on a weeknight once or twice a month to share concerns, to pray and study the Bible together, and to help with community outreach.

New Hope Fellowship Groups provide a “safe place to be loved”, and are a wonderful way to bond together as brothers and sisters in Christ. If you would like more general information about our small group program, contact our Small Groups director, Larry Omasta.

If you would like to join one of our small groups at their next meeting, contact one of the following small group leaders directly:

Men’s Ministry

Once a year we plan a Men’s Breakfast, with several of our men giving talks around a theme. Most of our men are involved in various ministries and we especially seek to help out single-parent families. For more information contact our director, Fred Stevens.

Women’s Ministry

Our Women’s Ministry meets monthly addressing relevant women’s issues, such as spirituality, health, marriage, etc.  At least once a year we organize a breakfast for the ladies of New Hope and any friends they wish to invite.

Each spring Women’s Ministry also has an annual Tea which is very well attended by our ladies and their guests.

Senior’s Ministry

On the first Wednesday of each month our senior saints gather in homes for a delicious potluck lunch, followed by a Bible Study discussion, usually led by our pastor. The food is always good, and the spiritual banquet and camaraderie is the best!

Annually, we host a honorary catered luncheon for all our seniors, age 60 and up, with their spouses, on a Sunday after church. Most of our seniors are actively involved in serving with various ministries in our church and the community. For more information, contact Pastor Glen Weber.

S.P.I.R.I.T. Ministry

SPIRIT stands for Single Parents – Inspiring Relationships in Truth. New Hope is committed to supporting all parents, and recognizing that there are many challenges unique to single parenting.

This fellowship is designed to build Christian relationships among single-parent families. We seek to edify, support and encourage single parents and their children.

Goal: to share the message of hope that can only be found in a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • Intentionally introduce single parents to Jesus Christ and help them to grow to be fully devoted followers
  • Help and encourage the single parent and their child(ren) to view themselves as a family
  • Help meet the practical needs of single parents and their child(ren)
  • Provide biblical instruction for parenting and building relationships
  • Provide an opportunity for single parents to connect with other single parents

We gather about every six weeks for a Saturday afternoon of food, fun, fellowship and prayer time together. We openly discuss parenting issues and support each other with prayer. We also plan several family outings or field trips per year. For more information contact SPIRIT co-ordinators Christine Leon or Kerry Ledbetter.

Food and Fellowship Ministry

Each Sunday after our worship service, we invite everyone downstairs to our Fellowship Hall for coffee and light refreshments. We also host church potluck lunches, usually once a month. It’s a great way to get better acquainted with your church family and to make new friends. For more information contact our Kitchen supervisor, Linda Morgan.
